Structure of any country is based on four pillars, Judiciary, Armed Forces, Government, and the Opposition in the assemblies. Judiciary has to make sure the enforcement of law and provision of justice to the citizens. Armed forces have to secure the country form both external and internal enemies. Government has the responsibility to run the affairs of country both on International and national levels.

Unfortunately, all these pillars have weakened in the year 2011. All of them failed to come up to their defined roles and expectations that a common man keeps from these institutions.

More than 2,500,000 cases are pending in lower level courts, high courts, and the supreme court. A large number of petitioners have died without getting justice. Government is not ready to implement the orders of Supreme Court that are against the interest of ruling party. Armed forces have proven incapable a number of times. Opposition parties, specially PMLN, have failed to act as a real opposition.

We are lacking gas resources. Electricity load shedding cannot be finished in spite of promises by the government. After the stance of Pakistan on killing of 26 army soldiers by NATO, USA has stopped aid to Pakistan. Hence it can be said that 2011 was the worst year in our history.

PTI has emerged out as a third party in 2011. However, instead of giving some agenda for Pakistan, they are just bringing in the notorious politicians in the party. These so called leaders could not do anything for the nation in past. PMLN is also raising the slogans of revolution if they are given a chance.

On a serious note, both of them, individually, cannot improve the financial condition of the country. In this critical time, an intelligent party leader will not take risk of coming in power. Whoever dares to take over will be a definite looser. All party heads need to sit together and find some solutions for the country. My suggestions are as follows:

President Zardari must be forced by all four pillars to invest at least one billion dollars in Pakistan. Supreme Court has failed to implement its orders for writing letter to Swiss Bank. There must be a deal with Zardari that he will not be asked to give money to the Treasure. However, he must invest that money in Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif should also bring money to Pakistan that he is earning in UK and Saudi Arabia.

An interim government may be formed for at least two years that should bring country back to the track. Good and capable people from all parties must be taken in the interim setup.

Elections should be held at least after two and half years.

I wish 2012 be a year that brings prosperity to our country.

24th December 2011 was a depressive day for the leaders, workers and supporters of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz). Veteran and seasoned political figure Makhdoom Javed Hashmi (Senior Vice President PMLN) announced to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in early morning while he was leaving for Karachi.

This news shocked everyone. Javed Hashmi is one of the greatest politicians who have earned respect from all corners. He faced 4 years imprisonment in Gen Musharraf’s regime. In jail, he missed his daughter’s wedding. In 2008, he refused to join cabinet as he did not like to take oath by Musharraf.

On 23rd December 2011, PMLN leadership came to know about Hashmi’s plans to join PTI. He had made a commitment with Imran Khan. Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Ahsan Iqbal, Tehmina Doltana and Mrs. Kalsoom Nawaz tried their level best to persuade the unhappy man but they all failed. Next morning, Mian Nawaz Sharif, Party president, was looking forward to go to Multan personally. Javed Hashmi landed at Karachi where Imran Khan received him warmly with his team members.

On 25th December 2011, PTI arranged a great public meeting (Urdu: Jalsa) at the tomb of Quaid-e-Azam. A very large number of men, women and youngsters gathered to listen to their leaders. Hashmi was not in a better condition and he came later. He was being carried by guys for walking to his allocated seat. Imran Khan stood up and hugged the great man. I felt very happy to see this. At least, Imran Khan behaved positively. Unfortunately, due to some unknown reasons, Hashmi was being kept an insulting attitude by Sharif Brothers.

Now Javed Hashmi has joined PTI. PML(N) has lost a gem indeed and they will have to pay for their mistreatment with him. If they do not mend their ways, they will lose other big names in coming days. However, I must say that Sir Javed Hashmi has not made a wise move. He is weak now and it was the best time for him to quit politics. He must have got retirement on account of improper attitude by PML(N) leadership. His joining in PTI is not good in any sense. Everyone is smelling the rifts between Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Javed Hashmi. Qureshi does not seem to pay him any respect. On other side, all corrupt politicians who celebrated Hashmi’s imprisonment, are now in PTI. They have joined PTI to fufill their vested interested. All sincere and genuine members of PTI are gone to back benches. Capable persons like Umer Sarfraz Cheema, Mahmood-ur-Rasheed and Imran Ismail have been sidelined after joinings by PMLQ lawmakers. It is shameful that a newcomer member, flopped singer Abrar-ul-Haq was given more importance than above mentioned loyal people. Every sensible Pakistani is surprised on this major change in party setup. I have no doubt that this team cannot bring any revolution in country. Marvi Memon also advised Hashmi not to join PTI as Musharraf is likely to shake hand with Imran Khan. Establishment is fully backing this party. Hashmi’s stance on opposing establishment for last years does not make him comfortable at this new place. Imran did not dare to discuss the major problems of target killing and terrorism at Karachi jalsa. He has made an underhand deal with MQM.

Earlier MQM had set examples of capturing TV Channels for hours. Now PTI is being given the same space. Why? Yesterday, Jamaat-e-Islami also arranged a sit-in (Urdu: Dharna) in Lahore. But media channels avoided its coverage and kept full focus on Karachi. JI Cheif Munawar Hassan criticised on this biased attitude of media owners. Shahbaz Sharif also inaugurated a modern slaughter house in Lahore and addressed to a large gathering. Even his event was not covered properly and cameras did not bother to show the audience.

PML(N) leadership should take Hashmi’s resignation very seriously. It is good that senior party leaders did not give any irresponsible statements and they all wished Hashmi health and a good life ahead. Nawaz Sharif called on a meeting of senior members and it was unanimously decided that all unhappy workers will be approached and persuaded. PML(N) has vowed again and again that they do not want to accept Establishment’s supremacy. I can see that in next elections, PML(N) and PTI will have tough competition in Punjab.

So finally President Zardari gave up. He lost the energy to face the ongoing developments in Supreme Court. Memo gate proved fatal for PPP government and they had to call back the Ambassador Husain Haqqani from USA. Later on, PMLN Chief Mr. Nawaz Sharif filed a petition in Supreme Court for transparent inquiry of the scandal. Supreme Court constituted a committee under Tariq Khosa to look into the matter and submit its report.

On the same day, PPP Senator Babar Awan gave harsh statements against the actions taken by Supreme Court. He said that another PPP government was going to be overturned and vowed that they will oppose any such adventure by non-democratic forces in the country. Imran Khan and his party kept silent on the issue. However, both Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi appreciated Nawaz Sharif’s act.

On 6th December 2011, President Zardari suddenly left for UAE along with his team of doctors for heart treatment. Now there are rumours that he will not return home. Zardari was going to address to the joint session of National Assembly and Senate by the mid of December. His departure at such a crucial moment has raised many questions. On the other hand, contradictions in official statements have further pointed that there is something fishy. Bilawal Zardari met Prime Minister in Islamabad. He also had talks with the other party leaders.

It is likely that Prime Minister will dissolve National Assembly and a caretaker government will be formed. All parties will be given representation in the interim set up. Elections will not be held soon as the preparation of fair voter lists is in progress. It is expected that this caretaker government will remain for a long period, around one and a half years minimum. Nawaz Sharif has reduced his differences with Establishment. However, Establishment is not willing to bring him as Prime Minister in next set up. Hence, Imran Khan is likely to be crowned.

News of a message sent by President of Pakistan to Mike Molin has brought hurricane in Pakistan. It has definitely created a rift between the civilian government and armed forces and establishment.

Mansoor Ijaz, a prominent businessman, has disclosed that Pakistani ambassador in USA sent a special memo to Mike Molin through Mansoor. According to Mansoor, in the subject memo, President Zardari has requested USA to help him against the expected coup by Army after the Osama Bin Laden’s assassination on 2nd May 2011. He assured that he will bring pro-American people on key posts in army and establishment.

Army Chief Kiani is annoyed to the presidency on this highly point-able act. However, Zardari said that he did not ask anyone to convey this message. Hussain Haqani is passing through a terrible situation where he has been asked to come back and report to the president for explanation on this issue. He is not in good health these days. He will come to Pakistan to clarify his position. In his initial statement, he has denied the allegation strongly and said that Mansoor is lying.

Here, I would like to add my personal opinion on the matter. Our armed forces have proved their inability and incompetency to safeguard the motherland. There are a number of times when they could not perform as per their defined role in security. Ahmad Shuja Pasha and Ishfaq Pervez Kiani have disappointed in performing their professional duties. On the other hand, Zardari also committed a crime by asking Americans to control Pakistan Army. Prime Minister and his government are fully involved in corruption.

Nawaz Sharif has asked the government to conduct inquiry of the matter through a committee. However, everyone knows the credibility and performances of such commissions/committees formed in past. President is busy in disturbing MQM and PMLN through establishment and its weapons. Nawaz Sharif has always vowed that his party will not favour any unconstitutional move to remove a democratic government. However, the situation is alarming and anything can happen in coming days. If the government is toppled by undemocratic forces in coutry, it will not be good for the country. There are rumours of a government of technocrats on Bangladesh Model. However, once again, establishment will be on back of any such setup.

In my opinion, there is only one solution to this strange turn of politics. President and Prime Minister should resign from their posts and go for the next elections. Putting everything on Hussain Haqani would not be fair. He cannot do it by his own. He has played a role as ambassador. General Kiani and General Pasha have lost the mandate to carry on. They should also admit their negligence and leave their posts immediately. We need new faces in every organization. All FOUR will have to vacate the space.

After the tragic assassination of Ms. Benazir Bhutto on 27th December, 2007, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari took over People’s Party as Co-Chairman. He announced that according to BB’s will, Bilawal Zardari would lead Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s party with an additional mid name Bhutto. It was a time when party workers from Sindh were in grief and they were raising fingers towards Punjab. The man came up with a new slogan “Pakistan Khappay” (We want Pakistan).

PPP formed federal and Punjab government by coalition with Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz). However, within first few months, PML(N) got a message that PPP was fulfilling the interests of establishment and Retired General Pervez Musharraf and they were not interested in making up their promises with PML(N). PMLN quit federal cabinet.

On public pressure, PPP restored the non-functional judiciary and Mr. Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudry was reinstated. They deceived Nawaz Sharif again and again. Then, the inflation has rose up too much in last three years. Some other issues like Raymond Davis incident, killings of innocent foreigners and a youngster by armed forces further triggered the politicians and general public.

Imran Khan carried on his journey slowly and steadily. Finally he got success with managing to collect a very large number of people at Minar-e-Pakistan Lahore. People have high hopes with the great Pakistani cricketer. Even the leaders of PML(N) are upset and spellbound over Imran’s great popularity in common people. Educated class is ready to vote for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf in next elections.

Imran has clearly urged to fight against corruption. He has said that he would not make alliance with PPP or PML(N). He said that he will introduce honest candidates in elections. Grandson of Allama Iqbal, Waleed Iqbal has joined PTI and he has assured Imran Khan his full support always. It is obvious that in coming days a number of famous political figures will be joining Imran Khan.

What is the fate of PML(N)? I am a strong supporter of PML(N). I have no doubt that PML(N) has served Punjab marvelously. Punjab is the only province where not even a single case of corruptions has been reported in last four years. Shahbaz Sharif is making untiring efforts to bring peace and prosperity to the people of Punjab. But in spite of this all, people are inclining towards PTI and they are not happy with PML(N) equally as they have complaints with PPP.

The main reason is PML(N)’s pathetic and below mark performance as the main opposition party in National Assembly and Senate. Let me say that PML(N) have disappointed their voters. Both Nawaz Sharif and Ch. Nisar Ali khan failed to deliver as a strong opposition party. Shahbaz Sharif kept on advising his elder brother again and again that they were losing their position with time. Nawaz Sharif, due to some unknown fears, kept a peaceful attitude towards PPP. He clearly vowed many times that he would not support any political move for toppling the government. Finally, the waters crossed the bridge and PPP government became a security risk. Now Nawaz Sharif woke up and started “Go Zardari Go” movement. But it was too late. Imran came, saw and conquered. Shahbaz Sharif’s lose language in PML(N) rally further damaged PML(N)’s image in educated class. On the other side, Imran spoke very well in his address.

Zardari and his team are enjoying the restlessness and panic in PML(N). They will linger on the elections until Imran gets high popularity in Punjab. Establishment also wants to strengthen PTI in Punjab as PML(N) has emerged as anti-establishment party. PML(N) has no method to counter for Imran’s increasing popularity. Imran Khan is playing the best inning in his political career. He is making best use of every day. Whereas, instead of speeding up the pace, Mian Nawaz Sharif is completely silent. After the Rally in Lahore, Nawaz Sharif has not issued a single statement about ongoing issues and political activities. This silence is benefiting to Khan. Shahbaz Sharif is still repeating his remarks about the president. Hence, PML(N) is a sure short loser in next setup and they cannot form federal or Punjab government. PTI will win many seats in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala. They will also win in KPK province. However, in my opinion, PPP will be the ultimate winner.

I salute to Asif Zardari for his evil genius qualities. No doubt, he is the biggest politician.

Year 2011 will always be remembered in history for something new in Pakistani politics that was never seen before. There is no doubt that present federal government of PPP and its allied parties MQM, ANP and PML(Q) has totally failed to give any piece of relief to the unfortunate nation.

Electricity load shedding, unavailability of Natural Gas (CNG), corruption in every organization, open violation of the verdicts of Supreme Court and inflation are the blessings of this Democratic Regime of Zardari and his team. Terrorism and poor performance by our forces have also put a question mark on integrity of Pakistan.

PML(N) and PTI are the parties who have been raising their voices for the people of Pakistan. Recently, I was shocked to hear the term “Dengue Brothers” from Imran Khan’s mouth. He is continuously using these words for Nawaz and Shahbaz. Shahbaz Sharif is being criticised for his services in battle against Dengue Fever in Punjab. He has worked very hard and his efforts have been acclaimed on International level.

On another day, I heard Shahbaz Sharif addressing the President Asif Ali Zardari in an insulting way. He used “Tum” for calling the president in a rally at Lahore. He also urged that the people will hang Zardari and his allies at Bhati Chowk Lahore. He also used the term of madari (juggler) for Mr. Zardari. In a retaliation, PPP is also using improper words for PML(N) leadership. Their minister Sherjeel Memon has announced that he will send bangles as a token of Eid gift to Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif. PML(N) offices have been put on fire in different cities of Sindh. MQM is also going to hold a rally to condemn the language used by Chief Minister (Punjab) in Lahore. Ch. Nisar Ali Khan also used some shameful words for MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain. MQM leaders Haider Abbas Rizvi and Waseem Akhtar retaliated very boldly on that and everyone criticised them.

I will not comment on time to time behaviour from MQM and PPP as people have no expectations from them. MQM, PPP and ANP are responsible for the killings in Karachi. How can one expect decent attitude from their leaders? People have seen Altaf Hussain, Sherjeel Memon and Dr. Mirza using shameful words for their political opponents.

However, I personally feel that Nawaz Sharif, Tariq Azeem, Mushahid Hussain Syed and Rahman Malik have never shown such immature attribute. Others should also follow them. I would simply add that abusive language cannot bring any solution to the problems of common people of our country. It just ignites the riots between parties.

Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan has been raising objections on Nawaz Sharif. Today I am going to discuss some of the points.

1. He is a corrupt man

Imran Khan always says this sentence. I am surprised why Imran has changed his attitude for PMLN. Remember that same Imran Khan has been standing with Nawaz Sharif during the Movement for Restoration of Judiciary in Pakistan. Due to some unknown reasons, at the final long march led by Nawaz Sharif, Imran hid himself at some secret place. People of Pakistan joined PMLN and Lawyers and the government had no other option than restoring the deposed Chief Justice. Imran says why Nawaz Sharif turned back from Gujranwala. At that time, Shahbaz Sharif’s government was dismissed by High court. Punjab was under Governor’s rule. Nawaz Sharif returned from Gujranwala only because his party was not fighting for Shahbaz Sharif’s regime. After getting the goal, he announced to end long march. Imran is jealous since that day as he could not wear the crown on his head. I ask only one question to Imran Khan. Nawaz Sharif is not in power. How can he do corruption? There is not even a single example of corruption in Shahbaz Sharif’s government. Why did Imran Khan shake hand with Nawaz Sharif earlier? He is just repenting for not going into assembly.

Nawaz Sharif is alleged for not paying his taxes. The man has shown his tax return reports on TV and hence the allegation is no more valid. If there is something wrong, Imran Khan must go to the courts rather than speaking alla balla.

2. He did a deal and moved to Saudi Arabia

I have heard some people saying these words. They always raise the point why Nawaz and family did not prefer to be hanged instead of shaking hand with Musharraf. They quote the example of Z.A. Bhutto who did not deal with Gen Zia.

Please note the difference between the two. Bhutto was hanged on desire of USA. Whereas, Musharraf was fully intending to hang Nawaz Sharif in Hijacking case. Iqbal Raad’s murder was a clear indication of Musharraf’s intentions. Luckily, Nawaz had developed strong relations with Bill Clinton and Rulers of Arabia. So they pressurised Musharraf to release Nawaz and Shahbaz. On Musharraf’s demand, these rulers got an assurity from Sharif family that they would not take part in politics for next ten years. Later on, Nawaz Sharif was declared innocent in cases made against him. However, the great leader fulfilled his words with Saudi Rulers and did not come into assembly. Now the period of that treaty is over and he is free to take part in elections.

3. Nawaz Sharif and Zardari are Same

Totally wrong. How can you compare two people who have nothing in common? One is the King of Corruption whereas the other has pain for the people. PMLN has been behaving in a decent way only because they never want to take Pakistani politics back into nineties. That is why they always protested in a better way. However, they never compromised on the core issues. Nawaz Sharif was the only leader who clearly spoke against wrong actions by armed forces after the incidents starting from 2nd May. Zardari left Pakistan during the floods. Nawaz Sharif and PMLN leadrers are focussing on Sindh. Shahbaz is doing great job against Dengue epidermic.

4. Nawaz Sharif is supporting PPP

Another wrong interpretation. Nawaz Sharif just gave an opportunity to PPP to deliver. However, PPP failed to deliver. Now PPP will have no excuse in next elections for their inability. Moreover, Army is also favoring Peoples Party. That is why Supreme Court’s verdicts are not honored and implemented in their true spirit. The only way is to wait for the next elections unless Army change their mind.

Conclusions:

Imran Khan should behave maturely. He must join hands with PMLN to bring Pakistan out of crisis. By splitting the vote of right sided parties, Imran is serving the interests of agencies and is strengthening PPP government. If Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and PMLQ (Like-minded) are ready to walk with Nawaz Sharif, why not Imran Khan? Shahbaz has set example of a corruption free government in Punjab. In future, PTI and PMLN can serve this country in a much better way. Imran should take Sports ministry and he must deliver. People will definitely bring him as Prime Minister. But for now it is too early. Imran has never been a part of government. Once being in cabinet, he will gain the real experience and will also see the ground realities.

2011 is going to its end. The unfortunate Pakistani nation faced worst condition of law and order added with load shedding of gas and electricity, floods, dengue epidermic and uncontrolled inflation during this year. Last week was the worst of all when people of Lahore had to live with long hours of power breakdown.

Shahbaz Sharif has dedicated his full time to fight against Dengue fever. Unfortunately, more than 150 people have lost their lives due to dengue fever. Shahbaz is taking great measures against the disease. He is always among the common people. Nawaz Sharif is visiting Sindh province to help out the victims of floods. On the other side, President Zardari preferred to visit UK. Imran Khan also left the poor people and went to London for launching his book. I do not want to criticise Imran Khan and President Zardari. They just chose the inappropriate time for their personal interests. It was the time to be with the affected poor people.

USA suddenly alleged Pakistan’s ISI for being involved in Burhanuddin Rabbani’s murder. USA warned Pakistan to mend her ways otherwise they may attack on Pakistan.

Confused Federal Government did not retaliate properly. Prime Minister called on an All Parties Conference (APC) for taking all political forces in confidence. In APC, Nawaz Sharif also participated from PMLN. He emerged as the wisest and most influential leader. He used supporting words for Army and vowed that his party will be fully supporting the government in national interest. Famous political leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has wished to rejoin PMLN.

It was unbelievable that workers of PTI tried to beat up famous PMLN Leader Khawaja Muhammad Asif (MNA) when he arrived to join a rally against load shedding in Sialkot. Workers of PTI broke the window of another PMLN’s leader’s car. I always oppose the torture in politics. It was a fun to read in newspapers that ex-governor Mian Muhammad Azhar joined PTI. He is a failed politician who was completely out of scene for a long time. He does not keep a good reputation. His joining will further weaken PTI.

Yesterday (on October 6, 2011) PMLN and other opposition parties gave a sit-in in front of Presidency against the corrupt PPP government. The sit-in was led by Opposition Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and an MNA of ruling party also participated in it. Now PPP government has paid off to Power Companies and the load shedding of electricity has been finished.

Supreme Court of Pakistan has also given its verdict on target killing in Karachi. However, people are disappointed from the decision. People were expecting a lot.

PMLN has raised its graph in recent days. Both Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif are taking their steps very wisely. If they continue their current strategy against the corrupt Zardari government, they will definitely bring good news to the nation.

So at last today I watched BHAI LOG in a mainstream cinema of Lahore. I had heard a lot about the movie. I was also in touch with Editor of Bhai Log who wanted me to watch and review Bhai Log.

BHAI LOG is a superb movie that takes you in grip and you cannot take off your eyes from screen. The subject is terrorism and target killing. It reminds me of Vidu Vinod Chopra’s Award winning flick ‘Parinda’ (1989). Movie has been filmed in Karachi. Nadeem (Abba Bhai) and Jawed Sheikh (Aslam Bhai) are two goons who are rivals. Abba Bhai is accompanied by Raja (Muammer Rana) and Sukhi (Meera). Aslam Bhai has a son Hasan (Babrak Shah) and a trustworthy assistant Faizoo (Baber Ali). Hasan is a student and is in love with Nadeem’s adopted daughter Laila (Sila Hussain). Nayyer Ijaz has played a negative role named Lachhoo. He has a son Nadoo (Aamir Qureshi). Shamoon Abbasi (Nagra) is also there as a Police Inspector. Shafqat Cheema also shines the screen with his appearance as a jew Israr David..

All actors performed very well. Saima and Noor are also part of the cast. Nadeem and Jawed Sheikh delivered flawless performance in their strong characters. Syed Faisal Bukhari (director and cameraman) has worked very hard on a strong storyline by Pervez Kaleem. The story has twists and I would not reveal it here. It is an action film. Fight sequences have been filmed in an appreciable style.

Baber Ali has given his best performance. Though he was not in leading role, even then he was on top. His eye contact with Muammer Rana looked awesome and very natural. His dialogues with Jawed Sheikh and Babrak Shah depicts his grip over his role. No doubt, he is the finest actor of current time. Muammer Rana performed good. However, at occasions he missed expressions. Climax is very strong. You enjoy every moment of the movie.

Music is not strong and the choreography too is just average. If you are a music lover, do not watch Bhai Log. However, if you like good scripts and well-executed movies, Bhai log is for you.

I give it 4/5.

With great box office success of new films Bhai Log, Love Mein Ghum, and Jugni, Lollywood seems to get back its lost glory. Bol has already hit the box office and is gaining success from all over the world. Reema, Syed Noor and Syed Faisal Bokhari have worked very hard on their movies. People have approved their work. In spite of release of Bollywood film Bodyguard on Eid-ul-Fitr, people are going to the cinemas to watch pakistani films which is a good sign for the revival of our industry. It is now right time for many veteran producers and directors to come back to the film making.
